Football fans attending tomorrow’s Richmond v Melbourne match at the MCG are strongly advised to avoid driving to the stadium, as parking will be extremely limited due to scheduled maintenance works in Yarra Park.
Car parking capacity in Yarra Park will be reduced by half and vehicle access will only be through Gate 5 or 6 (via Punt Road). Car park Gate 3 on Wellington Parade South will be closed for this match.
The strong interest in this match, including the pre-match tribute to the late Tom Hafey, is expected to cause increased traffic congestion and parking capacity will be reached well before the football match commences at 1.40pm.
The Melbourne Cricket Club recommends that patrons attending the AFL match allow increased travel time and, where possible, utilise public transport to get to the MCG.
Note: Designated areas will be set aside in Yarra Park to cater for patrons with disabled parking permits.
