MELBOURNE is confident star midfielders Dom Tyson and Bernie Vince won’t face a delayed start to the pre-season, despite undergoing recent operations.

The Demons had four players who went in for surgery at the end of the season, with Tyson and Vince being joined by Dean Terlich and Max Gawn in the operating theatre.

Tyson attended Melbourne's best and fairest count on September 4 with his right arm in a sling, following a minor operation to fix a tendon injury in his finger.

The 21-year-old, who finished runner-up to skipper Nathan Jones in this year's count, managed the injury throughout the season.

Vince (shoulder) and Terlich (ankle) also had minor operations to fix their separate issues.

Gawn injured his knee in the Demons' final game of the season against North Melbourne and the club put him under the knife to repair a meniscus tear.

Jake Spencer and Jack Trengove are back running and it is expected they will be close to full training by the time the club returns from its off-season break.

Trengove had season-ending foot surgery in April after scans revealed a crack in his navicular bone, while Spencer was ruled out for the year following ankle surgery in June.

Melbourne football manager Josh Mahoney told AFL.com.au the club was likely to have close to the full complement of players training from day one of pre-season.

"The low number of injuries puts us in a really good position to hit the ground running at the start of pre-season with the vast majority of players training," Mahoney said.

The first to fourth year players will be back into pre-season training on November 5, while those with five-plus years of experience will back at the club on November 17.
