The Melbourne Football Club is the oldest sporting club in the world and a founding club of the AFL. With more than 35,000 members, the Club, competes in a 23-round, plus finals competition and is based at Australia’s sporting icon, the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The Club has gone through a period of significant change and has embarked on an exciting new journey to create a sustainable and ultimately successful sporting organisation.
We are seeking an experienced registered Physiotherapist to join our dynamic team based at AAMI Park. Reporting to the Elite Performance Manager, the successful applicant will provide high level Physiotherapy services for Melbourne Football Club players and manage an efficient physiotherapy team.
You will need to possess a Bachelor of Physiotherapy and preferably a Sports Masters qualification, a demonstrated understanding of the Australian sporting landscape and experience in the area of sports medicine (AFL preferred) and most importantly possess highly effective interpersonal and communication skills.
Responsibilities will include:
- Assess and manage injuries to players
- Manage physio department staff to effectively manage the playing list
- Liaise with doctor, high performance manager and coach in regard to player status and welfare
- Liaise with Strength and Conditioning team to address injury prevention strategies
- Direct screening and monitoring processes for player management
- Attend training and matches for senior team
- Assist in preparation of players for training and games
- Liaise with team podiatrist to coordinate footwear and foot care for players
- Effective liaison with the Head Trainer to co-ordinate massage program
- Participation in the Sport Science and Innovations Committee
Successful applicants will have:
- Bachelor of Physiotherapy
- Post graduate qualification preferred
- Registered Physiotherapist
- A demonstrated understanding of the Australian sporting landscape and experience in the area of sports medicine (AFL is preferred)
- Demonstrated experience in a similar role
- Experience in leading a team

Successful candidates will require a current Working with Children Check. There is also a requirement to assist on match days and other events as required by the Club, which include weekends.
