The partnership, spanning the next three years, sees GIO Business Insurance become the first official general insurer of Australian football’s governing body.
GIO Business Insurance is one of Australia’s leading insurers, servicing over 100,000 businesses across Australia.
AFL General Manager of Commercial Operations, Darren Birch, welcomed the addition of GIO Business Insurance to the League’s portfolio of corporate partners.
“The AFL is always looking to engage with top-line, national organisations which is why we are delighted to have forged this partnership with GIO Business Insurance,” Mr Birch said.
“This partnership is significant for both parties and will benefit the broader football community. It will expose the GIO Business Insurance brand to a wide range of people in our emerging markets while also cementing the brand in our heartland states”.
Suncorp Commercial Insurance Chief Executive Officer Anthony Day said the partnership was a landmark agreement for GIO Business Insurance.
“GIO Business Insurance is very pleased and proud to be the official general insurer of the AFL,” Mr Day said.
“It provides the brand with widespread national public exposure through the association with the most popular sport in Australia.
“GIO Business Insurance provides extensive protection via a network of specialists on the ground in every state and territory. What better way to connect with business owners everywhere than to partner with Australia’s game?
“The partnership is a good fit as both GIO Business Insurance and the AFL are truly national and both have a long history of being part of the community. Australian football inspires millions though passion, dedication and volunteerism, traits present within our own customers, the Australian business community.”
The partnership will ensure GIO Business Insurance has a presence across a host of key AFL assets including venue signage and a range of activation and advertising opportunities.
