PASS MARK FOR 2014: With some big name recruits brought in alongside a bunch of third-year players, the club has regularly stated it expects to step up this season. A minimum of four wins would be required to satisfy the Giants in 2014.
NEEDS A BIG YEAR: Defender Stephen Gilham had an inconsistent first season, but has been named in the leadership group and needs to make his presence felt. Jed Lamb will be keen to retain a regular spot in the 22 having moved from the Swans seeking more opportunities, while some fringe Giants such as Matt Buntine, Sam Frost and Jono O'Rourke will be aiming for big years.
FIRST FIVE GAMES: Sydney Swans (SPO), St Kilda (ES), Melbourne (SPO), Western Bulldogs (SO), Adelaide (AO)

PLAY TWICE: Sydney Swans, Melbourne, Western Bulldogs, Adelaide, Richmond
TOUGHEST RUN: The Giants' schedule is reasonably well spaced out and three of the five sides they playe twice missed the finals last season. But they face a tricky run between rounds 15-19, when they take on the Swans at the SCG before match-ups with Adelaide, Fremantle, Geelong and Richmond.
DREAM SCENARIO: One of the Giants' key mantras being instilled into every player is chasing a victory against the Swans in round one. For a side that waited until round 19 last year for its first win, a round one triumph would be fairytale stuff. A clean bill of health for Jonathon Patton would also be gratefully accepted.
WORST NIGHTMARE: A schedule that commences with the Swans, Saints, Melbourne and the Bulldogs is just about the best GWS could possibly hope for. But if they lose all four, particularly if they include some heavy losses, heads could drop and another long season could lie ahead.
PRESSURE RATING ON THE COACH: Leon Cameron (5/10). Much is to be determined for Cameron, who takes the reins of an AFL club for the first time. The pressure rating is low as he begins his tenure, but a long run of losses for a side that has re-tooled significantly could see that start to rise.
