The 2014 Toyota AFL Grand Final Parade will be held through the streets of the City of Melbourne on Friday, September 26. The Parade, to be exclusively broadcast by Fox Footy, will take its traditional route, commencing at 12 pm in St Kilda Road, adjacent to the Arts Centre Melbourne, travel north into Swanston Street, before turning right into Collins Street.
The Parade will conclude at approximately 12.45pm with the presentation of the teams to the public on the steps of the Treasury Building.
Following the Parade, the coaches and captains of both teams will attend the official 2014 Pre-Match Media Conference. This is expected to start just after 1.05pm.
Important Media Notes
1. Only Media with official AFL 2014 season accreditation will be admitted inside the barriers for the first 400 metres along the parade route. This can be a home and away accreditation, or a finals accreditation. Media will not be permitted inside the barriers once the parade has turned into Collins St, so the public can clearly see the players. Accreditation can be either finals or home and away accreditation but media who do not have AFL accreditation will be kept behind the barriers with the public.
2. All media seeking interviews with players or to do stand-ups behind them while the Parade is moving along need to have these completed before the Parade turns into Collins Street, for the benefit of the public being able to see players. All media inside the barriers will be kept back from the cars once they are in Collins Street. As such, all interview material during the Parade must be gathered in the first half of the event.
3. The camera stand on the steps of Treasury Building is for the exclusive use of the crew telecasting the presentation live for the crowd. All other crews and photographers will have to remain at ground level in front of the steps of the Treasury Building (ie; in front of the public barriers and shooting up at the teams), and will not be able to stand on the steps of the building and block the public or disabled viewing area.
4. Space for television crews at the media conference will be at a premium. The AFL will assign all crew spots at the back of the room, with preference given to sports news crews. All general news crews will have to take footage from this conference from their sports crews, as there will not be space for multiple crews from each station. As such, news departments need to be aware they will have to obtain footage from their sports crews.
5. The media conference with captains and coaches for the Grand Final Teams is scheduled to start at 1.05pm, after the crowd entertainment has concluded.
