FORGOTTEN West Coast defender Beau Waters is on track to return to senior football in 2015 after enduring a horror run with injury.

The 2012 All Australian hasn't played since round 15, 2013 after complications following a reconstruction to his right shoulder last year. He was forced to have more surgery after a infection led to pins being removed from the shoulder.

There were initial fears for Waters' career when his season was ruled over in April. It followed the 28-year-old standing down as vice-captain in January to focus on his recovery.

However Eagles football operations manager Craig Vozzo told AFL.com.au that Waters is expected to return to competitive training by the start of next year.

"He's finishing the back end of his recovery plan for the shoulder," Vozzo said.

"I suspect he'll be back into full competitive training by late this year or early next year.

"But fitness, aerobic wise and strength wise he's tracking really well."

The Eagles endured injury issues with key players throughout the year but Vozzo was confident the club would have a full compliment of players for the start of pre-season.

Ruckman Nic Naitanui does not require post-season surgery and is expected to complete a full pre-season for the first time since his All Australian year in 2012.

Mark LeCras has had the plate removed from the forearm that he has twice fractured but has recovered from the minor surgery.

Key defender Eric Mackenzie and young gun Jeremy McGovern both had minor hip surgery but neither player is expected to be hampered at the start of the pre-season.

Jack Darling fractured his foot at the end of the season but does not require surgery.

Meanwhile, troubled Eagles rookie Murray Newman has returned to the club after serving six months in jail for grievous bodily harm. Vozzo said the 20-year-old had applied himself admirably to his training regime since returning to the club.

"He's tracking well," Vozzo said.

"He's got a couple of months training before our final list lodgement. But the plan is if Murray keeps performing the way he is and bringing the level of application and enthusiasm that he's currently shown that he'll remain on our rookie list for 2015."

Eagles coach Adam Simpson has already flagged five-to-seven list changes, including the retirements of Darren Glass and Dean Cox. A number of Eagles-listed players are playing for East Perth in the WAFL Grand Final on Sunday.

Vozzo said the club's list management group had not made any decisions on delisting players. He said the group would meet next week to discuss the list and the plans for the draft and trade period.
