GUY McKENNA will coach Gold Coast into 2015 after agreeing to a one-yearcontract extension. 

McKenna, who was set to fall out of contract at the end of this season,will lead the Suns into a fifth season as the fledgling club looks to move upthe ladder. 

Suns chief executive Travis Auld said the club was yet to work out thefiner details of the deal but confirmed McKenna would be continuing in therole.

"There'san agreement we will add another year to his contract and now it’s just amatter of going through the process," Auld told News Limited.

"Ijust have to talk to his manager and go through the terms."

Auldsaid the end of next season would give everyone at the Suns a chance to takestock of their direction under McKenna.

"Whatwe've decided is 2015 is a good opportunity for everyone to sit back and seewhere we're it," he said.

"Itgives him five years and it gives us five years [and] we can make some gooddecisions.

"There'snothing more in that other than it's a good time to make an assessment aboutlist, about our structures."

It follows news that Suns captain and champion midfielder Gary Ablett iskeen to start talks on a contract extension with the club. 

Ablett, who still has two years to run on his five-year deal, last weektold AFL.com.au he would commencediscussions this season on a longer term. 

"I'm sure throughout thisyear I'll be talking to the club and we'll be going through that negotiationprocess," Ablett said. 

The Suns start their 2014campaign on Saturday night against Richmond at Metricon Stadium.
