Shoulder surgery to out Bulldog Roughead for two months
Jordan Roughead to have surgery on shoulder injured against Tigers
THE WESTERN Bulldogs have confirmed defender Jordan Roughead requires shoulder surgery, ruling him out for up to two months.
Roughead dislocated the AC joint in his right shoulder in the club's two-point win over Richmond on Saturday, playing out the game with the significant injury.
The 23-year-old has been booked in for surgery on Monday night.
"Jordan dislocated his AC joint [which is] very unfortunate for him," Bulldogs medical services Andrew McKenzie told westernbulldogs.com.au.
"He is going to have to have that operated on tonight and following the surgery we will get a better update from the surgeon.
"We expect it will be about eight weeks at this stage."
Bulldogs coach Brendan McCartney lauded Roughead for his courage in fighting through the pain to become a critical part of the club's memorable victory.
"He stayed on the ground with a broken shoulder for three quarters. He's a very special young man and he'll become a pillar of our club and he's etched his name, always, as a person you want to play footy with," McCartney said after the game.
In other injury news, Koby Stevens has been passed fit to take on Greater Western Sydney on Saturday after being a late withdrawal at the weekend.
"Koby did train in our last session but he wasn't quite right, so he couldn’t play the game,” McKenzie said.
"He should be [back to] full training this week and he will be available to play."
Young midfielder Josh Prudden will miss a month after he sustained a knee injury when playing for the Bulldogs' VFL team on Saturday.
"There is a low-grade injury to his MCL and some bone bruising – it should settle down but he will miss four weeks," McKenzie said.
