The AFL today detailed the summary of Total Player Payment (TPP) earnings across the competition for the 2013 year, to be included in the 2013 AFL Annual Report.
The summary shows that AFL clubs paid a total of $181.5 million in player payments, before deductions allowed for injury allowances, veterans’ list payments, finals incentives and other reasons, increasing 4.5 per cent from the 2012 figure of $173.7 million.
The average player salary for a listed player in 2013 was $265,179, increasing from $251,559 for the 2012 year, with a total of 729 players listed across the competition, not including rookie list players.
