Fitness test for Giants star Jeremy Cameron ahead of round one
Star Giant faces fitness test on rolled ankle ahead of clash with Swans
JEREMY Cameron is in doubt for Saturday's clash with the Sydney Swans after the Greater Western Sydney star rolled his ankle in last week's final practice match.
An All Australian last year at the age of 20, Cameron rolled the ankle in the first half against Adelaide in Blacktown and took no further part in the match.
He will undergo a fitness test later in the week to determine if he can take his place in the line-up when the Giants host the Swans at their Spotless Stadium home for the first time.
Cameron had been expected to feature in a forward line also featuring fellow key forward Jonathon Patton, who has enjoyed a solid pre-season following two years blighted by knee injuries.
Tom Boyd, the Giants' No.1 overall pick in last year's NAB AFL Draft, played his first senior match against the Crows and his chances of a debut on Saturday would increase if Cameron is unable to play.
New recruits Josh Hunt and Shane Mumford, along with budding star Adam Treloar, sat out the hit-out against Adelaide, but all are available to take on the Swans.
Apart from Cameron, defender Tim Mohr (foot) and rookie-listed midfielder Sam Schulz (shoulder) are the only other players on the GWS injury list.
