THE TRIBUNAL will be called upon to decide a penalty for Brian Lake's choke-hold on Drew Petrie, which occurred during the third quarter of Friday night's clash between Hawthorn and North Melbourne. Both Lake and Petrie will front the Tribunal on Tuesday evening to have their cases heard.
Lake was charged with misconduct by the Match Review Panel on Monday, but the panel opted against reaching its own finding on the matter.
For his part in the fracas, Petrie was cited for making unreasonable and unnecessary contact with the face of Lake.
The MRP slapped him with a one-match suspension after grading the incident as negligent, low impact and high contact.
While Petrie could have accepted a reprimand and 93.75 carryover points if he had plead guilty, he has opted to contest the charge, as was revealed by coach Brad Scott on Monday evening.Petrie's case will be heard first on Tuesday evening at 5pm (AEST), followed by Lake's.
Essendon star Brendon Goddard, Brisbane Lions midfielder Tom Rockliff and West Coast forward Josh Kennedy were not so lucky.
All three have accepted one-match suspensions.
Goddard was booked for an off the ball clash with Port Adelaide's Kane Cornes, which was picked up after scrutiny of behind the goals vision.
The incident was graded as intentional, low impact and body contact.
Goddard's initial penalty was a two-match ban but has been reduced to one by the guilty plea.
Rockliff was cited for intentionally striking Richmond defender Alex Rance.
His initial penalty was a one-match suspension, and his poor record means he will miss this week's clash with the Eagles.
Kennedy was cited for a bump on Sydney Swans youngster Zak Jones during the opening minutes of Sunday's clash at Patersons Stadium, which resulted in Jones having to be subbed out of the game.
The incident was graded as negligent, high impact and high contact.
The initial penalty was a three-game ban, but Kennedy's good record means he will only miss the clash with the Lions after pleading guilty.
A number of other incidents also caught the MRP's attention.
North Melbourne's Luke McDonald accepted a reprimand for tripping Hawthorn's Luke Breust with his hand, while Shane Mumford also got a reprimand after being booked for negligently elbowing Adelaide's Josh Jenkins in the head.
Gold Coast defender Rory Thompson accepted a reprimand after being cited for an intentional strike to the body of Collingwood's Travis Cloke.
The match-day report laid against Essendon's Paul Chapman for striking Port Adelaide's Robbie Gray was thrown out.
