JACK Higgins will don the No.13 guernsey in 2019 after asking Richmond to swap from the No.28 jumper he wore in his debut season to honour a special mentor.
The talented forward/midfielder will become the first player to wear No.13 for the Tigers since Ricky Petterd in 2015.
Chris Yarran was allocated the jumper after Petterd's retirement but failed to play a game in 2016 before he left the club in November that year to deal with mental health issues.
The No.13 jumper was left vacant in 2017 and 2018 but will now be resurrected on the back of the livewire Higgins, who has been earmarked for more midfield time next season with the expected restructure of the Tigers' forward set up.
CLUB LISTS COMPARED Oldest? Youngest? Most experienced?
His change was to honour the father of one of his mates – who wore 13 in his football career – and has acted as a mentor.
Higgins will turn 20 in March and already looks to have benefitted from another off-season in the gym, having presented with a stronger frame for the start of summer training.
The Tigers' first pick in the recent NAB AFL Draft, Riley Collier-Dawkins, will wear the No.26 guernsey, recently vacated by Anthony Miles, in his debut season.
Collier-Dawkins has also impressed in the short time he's been at the club, particularly in the running drills.
Fellow draftees Jack Ross will wear No.27, formerly worn by Sam Lloyd, while Fraser Turner will don Higgins' No.28 and Luke English has been allocated No.32, which was Corey Ellis' jumper.
MUST-WATCH GAMES The 22 you won't want to miss
Former Saint and Sun Mav Weller, who started training with the Tigers this week after being recruited through the new supplement player rule, will wear No.16, worn by the retired Shaun Hampson.
Fellow rookie Jake Aarts, another to have impressed with his endurance in the early days of pre-season, will wear the No.39 previously worn by Nathan Drummond.
The Tigers have already announced prized recruit Tom Lynch will wear 19, the number in which he played the majority of his 131 games at Gold Coast.
Meanwhile, WA prospect Sydney Stack started training with the Tigers on Monday in the hope of securing the last spot on their rookie list through the same rule that secured Weller.
