Started as substitute and came on at half-time for Lewis Jetta as the concussion sub. Stayed on when Jetta returned 20 minutes later at the expense of Jake Lloyd. Made an impact with a quick tackle and finished with eight touches; a haul equal to or more than four of his teammates.  

 

Did OK against Isaac Smith in the first half and then switched to Matt Suckling, which prompted Matt Spangher to try and prise him away. Seemed overawed at times and made some bad decisions.  

 

Was made to work for every mark and was met with jeers and boos from both the crowd and his former teammates when he did touch it. Looked dangerous all game and marked strongly when it came his way but was starved of delivery as the midfield was beaten. Played up the ground in the second half but the damage was done. Kicked 4.2 and took five contested marks in an impressive game.

 

Didn't have a great game after overcoming the ankle he jarred last week against North Melbourne. Will rue his decision to duck his head in the first quarter, which resulted in a goal to Bradley Hill, and largely had a tough and unenjoyable day against Ben McEvoy although he didn't stop trying.

 

Was one of the Swans' best in what could be his last game. Tried valiantly to get his team to lift after it was slaughtered in the first quarter and went into the midfield in a bid to get things moving, where he quickly grabbed the ball from a centre clearance and lined up Buddy. Kicked 2.1 and had six inside 50s in a brave performance.

 

Tried to be the instigator of a revival in the second quarter but was let down by poor disposal across the game. Ended with 20 touches but was plagued by inaccurate kicking. Kept trying with five tackles and four clearances but couldn't make a consistent impact.

 

Tried hard after being smashed by Jarryd Roughead in a tough tackle at half-back late in the first term. Stayed on the ground but was rattled, and later had a brain fade when he was tackled by Lake when running into goal. Still, he battled on and kicked a goal against the flow midway through the third. Was part of a midfield that was simply outclassed.

 

Had a forgettable game. Didn't touch the ball in the first quarter, had one disposal to half-time, and then started the third in a concussion time out after being flattened by McEvoy in a marking contest. Came back on after 20 minutes but ended with just four touches for the afternoon.

Made a stand at the stoppages with five first half clearances when the Swans were getting smashed in that area. Had 16 disposals in the first half and ended as his team's highest ball winner. Dug out five clearances and was their best midfielder but didn't have enough support to make a difference.  

 

Subbed out late in the third term of his 21st AFL game. Had 11 touches and was one of the few Swans who registered multiple tackles in the first half. Didn't really have an impact but will be better for the experience.

 

After he appeared physically hampered last week against North Melbourne following his qualifying final hamstring injury, the veteran defender was the reason the game wasn't blown out in the first quarter. Kept the Swans in it when they were under siege with excellent rebound and went on to be one of their best. 

 

Unfortunately wasn't gifted with a fairytale finish to his first Grand Final. Nailed the first goal of the second quarter after his kick from the centre square was shepherded through by Goodes and tried to show aggression in the second when he threw Sam Mitchell out of bounds. Tackled hard and won four clearances in a decent effort but didn't make a consistent impact.

 

Another quiet game from the co-captain after 14 touches last week. Tried to rally the players at half-time before they left the field after having just five touches in the half. Finished with 11 in another performance below his best.

 

Consistently got his hands on the ball across the game for 20 disposals but like Hannebery suffered from terrible inaccuracy. Worked hard at the clearances and across half-forward but failed to reach his usual level of impact.

 

Easily won the ruck battle with 32 hit-outs and especially dominated at the centre bounces but the midfield was unable to capitalise. Also lacked impact around the ground.

 

Conceded after the game he was well and truly beaten by Jack Gunston and had been overawed by the occasion. Gave away a couple of free kicks and kept tackling but didn't have a great game.

 

Struggled after being subbed out last week with a knee injury. Gave away a 50m penalty in the second term when he tackled Mitchell after he'd marked but was let off when just a point was scored. Went back as a loose man in defence in the second and still lacked impact. Looked to be physically labouring in the fourth.

 

Looked set for a huge day when he took a screamer on Roughead's back in the first but was part of a Swans' backline that was under pressure from the word go. Was quiet after his big leap.

 

Sadly, couldn't carry on from the game of his life last week against the Kangaroos. Started forward and moved back to play on Luke Breust but struggled to find the ball wherever he went. Had an awful moment in the second quarter when he kicked it straight to Luke Hodge from the kick in for a certain goal. Had one run through the middle but even then fumbled a bounce – and will be disappointed with his seven-touch game after showing such form last week.

 

Found the ball 25 times and provided consistent rebound but too often kicked long and high out of the backline to a contest. Looked physically exhausted at the end of the game.

 

Did what he could against a range of opponents from Cyril Rioli to Breust but again was part of an overwhelmed backline. Laid a good smother in the second term and finished with four tackles. A quiet game from a first-time All Australian.

 

Was used as a stepladder in the third quarter by Brian Lake, who managed to take a terrific mark on his shoulders. Was caught out by Rioli who twice stole the ball off him and delivered to Roughead for a pair of goals. Struggled against Lake and went into the ruck to find the ball. While he won plenty of contested possessions, it wasn't his best game.
