A dual premiership winner at Hawthorn, gifted forward Franklin could find his new club clashing with his old in the Grand Final in just over two weeks.
"There's no doubt that both clubs have been very successful for a long period of time because they've got great leaders around the football club," Franklin said on the Big Sports Breakfast on Sky Sports Radio on Thursday morning.
"I've been fortunate enough to be involved in both very good football clubs and I'm loving my time at the Swans at the moment.
"It's been great. The next few weeks are going to be very important. Hopefully we're going to have a big say in the finals."
The winner of this season's Coleman Medal, Franklin kicked two breathtaking goals to effectively break a brave Fremantle team in last weekend's qualifying final.
However, Franklin was quick to share the credit for the win, especially with gun midfielders Luke Parker and Dan Hannebery, the Swans' two leading possession getters on the day.
"It was a number of players who stepped up when it counted," Franklin said.
"Luke Parker was an exceptional young player that really stood up on the weekend and 'Hanners' did too.
"I think it was just a good team effort. We knew the Dockers were going to jump out and play the football they were going to.
"The boys just dug in and did what we had to do and have got ourselves into a really good position to hopefully play in a grand final."
While he was double-teamed at times of last week's game, Franklin insisted he was attracting about the same amount of defensive attention he got at Hawthorn.
He said the Swans had so many forward options and not just fellow talls, Kurt Tippett, Adam Goodes and Sam Reid.
"We've got small forwards that pop in there too, from the midfield, Benny McGlynn or 'Macca' (Jarrad McVeigh)," Franklin said.
"We've got really good options up there, so if one of us is having an off day, another guy can pop up with some goals, that's a sign of a good team."
Franklin said training and playing regularly over the last couple of months had been good for his game after injury niggles early in the season had impacted on his form and ability to blend in with his new teammates.
While the Swans have this weekend off, Franklin stressed they had still been training through the week and had no time for resting.
"We've got to be on our toes and be ready for next week and make sure we’re ready to go straight away, because we know that it's going to be hot and it's going to be on," Franklin said.
