The Essendon Football Club has a reputation as a leader in the Australian sports industry, with a rich history spanning more than 140 years. Driven to be recognised and respected as the most successful sporting club in Australia, both on and off the field, we are now seeking a General Manager - Commercial Operations to join our team.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you will be responsible for:
- Leading the Commercial Partnerships, Corporate Sales and Hospitality, Fundraising and Events teams
- Leading by example and driving major commercial results and outcomes, including achievement of annual revenue targets and net contribution KPIs
- Fostering a winning solution & working environment by engaging & motivating your direct reports to continuously deliver the best possible service to the EFC customers
- Implementation of relationship management strategies to acquire new and retain profitable and respectful clients across all industry segments, taking a proactive and energetic approach
- Innovation in new product development to diversify EFC’s product offers, in line with industry trends and yield targets
- Performing detailed commercial contractual and financial analysis on complex sales opportunities
- Work within the organisation to ensure mutual understanding and alignment around key activities and initiatives
- The successful candidate will have the following attributes:
- Tertiary and or/post graduate qualifications in commercial or related field
- Minimum 8-10 years extensive experience in sales, advertising, marketing and brand development
- An extensive relationship network at senior level across major industries
- Exceptional communication, organisational and presentation skills and a strategic, solution based approach to relationship management
- Experienced in major stakeholder management – managing critical internal and external relationships and governance process
- Proven leader with strong financial and commercial acumen, and negotiation and problem solving skills
- An ability to manage several assignments simultaneously
- Capable of working a wide array of hours with a varying time schedule to suit the seasonal priorities of the football industry
