NORTH Melbourne will earn about $3.6 million over the course of its new two-year agreement to play three games a season in Hobart.
The Roos' new deal was clinched on Monday night when the Hobart City Council voted 10-2 to continue to partially fund the Roos' games at Blundstone Arena.
North's other remaining Hobart partner, TT-Line, last month agreed to continue its sponsorship of the club for the next two years and to extend its funding to cover three games from 2014-2015.
North CEO Carl Dilena told AFL.com.au on Tuesday the club was thrilled to extend its presence in Hobart for another two years, saying the relationship would continue to be mutually beneficial for the club and local community.
"It's extremely pleasing for us as part of our long-term strategy of growing in a new market, because obviously Victoria is pretty concentrated with clubs," Dilena said.
"Growing our presence in Hobart, driving attendances and driving membership will be the main things for us, and the longer we're there the more we can expand and the better traction we'll get.
"But we have also worked extremely hard – and will continue to work extremely hard – to ensure that we also give real value back to the region and the local community."
The Hobart City Council agreed on Monday night to contribute $300,000 a season over the next two years to ensure North continues playing at Blundstone Arena.
AFL.com.au understands North will receive about $600,000 a game under the new deal.
North won the final game of its initial three-year contract in Hobart on Saturday against Adelaide, having played two games a season at Blundstone Arena in that time.
Under the terms of that deal, North reportedly received $500,000 a game from sponsors TT-Line ($250,000), RACT and the Hobart City Council ($125,000 each).
RACT announced last month it would not continue its sponsorship of Hobart games beyond this year.
