CARLTON'S Dylan Buckley will be missing for six weeks after suffering a hand injury in the VFL on Saturday.
Buckley nursed the hand when he left the ground but there were hopes he had escaped without serious damage.
The 21-year-old had played eight matches in 2014 and performed well however he was dropped back for a run in the VFL after showing signs of fatigue.
He injured the scaphoid bone in the hand and is expected to have surgery.
Carlton captain Marc Murphy backed the exciting midfielder to recover from the injury and play a role for the Blues later this year.
"It's really disappointing for Dylan," Murphy said on Thursday morning.
"He's showed a lot this year, he's really come along. Dylan will be around for another 12 or so years, so he'll get himself right and hopefully feature later in the season."
Defender Michael Jamison is also in doubt after injuring his shoulder against Geelong last Friday night. He played on and quelled Tom Hawkins in the second half.
Ed Curnow and David Ellard remain out for another week at least, however the Blues expect Chris Judd to return after he played in the VFL on Saturday.
Football manager Andrew McKay said Judd would be available for selection.
"Most people who saw him play would agree he was a little bit rusty, but was certainly better for the run," McKay told Carlton's website.
