ILL-DISCIPLINE has again reared its ugly head at the Brisbane Lions, and midfield ace Dayne Zorko says it must stop.

In a mirror reflection of the 2013 season, the Lions are again ranked dead last for free kicks conceded.

Last year they gave away 21.1 a game, and despite dropping that number to 18.9 a game this year, are again the worst offenders in the competition.

Zorko himself was a prime culprit in Saturday night's 45-point hiding from Greater Western Sydney, conceding a needless free kick from the centre circle after barrelling a Giants player following a first quarter goal.

It was a show of aggression that simply wasn't needed.

Ahead of Saturday's match against Fremantle in Perth, the dynamic Zorko said the lack of discipline had been a hot topic in the Lions' ranks the past three days.

"That's just got to stop," Zorko said. "(Ill) Discipline stuff just doesn't need to happen.

"It's blokes putting themselves before the team and that's not what we're about, we're all about the team now and building a strong family environment."

The Lions' leaders were the main offenders against the Giants, with Jonathan Brown (three), Tom Rockliff (three) and Zorko (two) heading the queue for free kicks conceded.

Over the season the Lions have three in the top five (Rockliff, Zorko and Jack Redden) in that unwanted statistical category.

Zorko said his own brain snap would not be happening again.

"I was going too far," he said.

"I probably did the damage by kicking the goal on him in the first place. To go up and do those silly things and give away free kicks … that's not what we're about, we're all about the team."

Zorko said the other main focus ahead of playing the Dockers was contested ball, after the young Giants also got the better of that category (132-122) at the weekend.

"We need to go out and do what we've been asked, everyone perform their roles and don't get caught up in little niggles that we did on the weekend," he said.

"We'll give it a red hot go."
