WHETHER it was the Academy Awards or excitement for this week's return of footy, the hashtag #AFLMovies has exploded on Twitter.
With almost 4,000 tweets as of early Monday afternoon, the hashtag trended No.1 in Australia, Melbourne and Sydney and trended in other cities for more than 13 hours as fans put a footy spin on famous titles of the silver screen.
Twitter user @thatsjustrood got the ball rolling with The Italian Jobe and Clear and Present Dangerfield, and soon clubs, players and comedians were on board.
The AFL Media team enjoyed A Clockwork Gorringe, Saturday Night Fevola and also In Harmes' Way, referencing Carlton great Wayne Harmes' last-minute lunge to keep the ball alive and win the 1979 Grand Final.
We've seen some great entries so far, but in the spirit of the Oscars we want to see more.
