UNRESTRICTED free agent Matt Rosa says he wants to stay at West Coast for the rest of his career. 

 

Rosa will qualify for life membership of the club in his 150th game on Saturday but his milestone has been slightly overshadowed by questions surrounding his future.

 

The out-of-contract Victorian will become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season and is likely to attract attention from Melbourne-based clubs.

 

After gathering 37 possessions in the Eagles' win over St Kilda on Sunday, the 27-year-old gave the strongest indication yet that he wants to remain at West Coast.

 

"I would definitely like to be a one-club player so hopefully it works out that way," Rosa said.

 

"There is still a little bit of work to do, but that would be great to say at the end of your career that you're a one-club player."

 

West Coast has been in contract negotiations with Rosa's management for more than a month.

 

Rosa revealed on Monday that other than telling West Coast of his desire to remain at the club he had not had any involvement in negotiations and could not pinpoint when or if an announcement would take place.

 

"I think they are making good progress and hopefully something comes of that soon," Rosa said.

 

"It could be this week, it could be three or four weeks. That's why I've got a manager. He's handling all that.

 

"I've just been focusing on playing footy and getting my body right each weekend. I don't really like worrying about those sorts of things so I'll just wait for his call.

 

"Obviously he's working behind the scenes with the club."

 

Recruited as a second-round pick (No.29) in the 2004 NAB AFL draft from North Ballarat, Rosa said Victoria will always be his home, however West Coast holds a special place in his heart.

 

“I love it in Perth and the footy club has been fantastic," Rosa said.

 

"When I got drafted I was fully aware that I was coming over to a great footy club and I have enjoyed my time over here.

 

"I am just hoping that I can get some success at the footy club."?

Rosa has been ravaged by injury during his 10 years in Perth. He has only once played every game in a season, in 2009. He played 15 games in 2006 but was squeezed out of the premiership side despite 23 touches in the semi-final win over the Western Bulldogs.

 

He said he feels like he's back to his best form.

 

"My body is feeling the best it has for a long time," Rosa said.

 

"I am probably back to where I was a couple of years ago.

 

"I was always confident that if I got my body right I would be able to get back to my best form."
