ROBERT Murphy will extend his stellar career into a 16th season next year after agreeing to a new one-year deal with the Western Bulldogs.

Murphy was set to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of this season, but AFL.com.au understands he has agreed to terms with the Bulldogs to play on in 2015.

The 32-year-old has shown no signs of slowing down so far this season, playing all 16 of the Bulldogs' games and averaging nearly 20 possessions a match.

But it is Murphy's run and class ball use that still make him such a valuable player to the Bulldogs.

The defender has taken 33 bounces this season (equal 10th in the AFL), more than double the next best Bulldog Easton Wood (16).

Murphy also leads the Bulldogs in rebound 50s (60) in 2014, is ranked fifth in one-percenters (46) and has hit 81.1 per cent of his targets.

The 2011 All Australian is ninth on the Bulldogs' all-time games list (265) and finished second in the club's 2011 best and fairest award.

The Bulldogs took Murphy with the pick No. 13 in the 1999 national draft.
