JOEL SELWOOD
Selwood is a phenomenal player – courageous as they come and with leadership qualities equal to, if not better, than any other in the AFL. Steve Johnson's mercurial ability adds a point of difference to Geelong's midfield, but Selwood is its most solid and consistent performer. The tough on-baller averaged 25.6 disposals per game in 2014, coupled with a career-high in clearances (6.4). As the leader in an emerging pack of midfielders, Selwood refuses to give in and has the win-at-all costs attitude that the greats possess.
KEY 2014 STATS: Selwood was involved in 30 per cent of Geelong’s scoring chains – ranked No.1 at the club. He also generated the third most points from his clearances behind Gary Ablett and Robbie Gray.

TOM HAWKINS
As the Cats' go-to forward, Hawkins kicked 68 goals last season. The club's next best was Jimmy Bartel with 27. Hawkins has a strong presence on the field and – whenever he demands the ball – Geelong players feel compelled to kick it to him. The Cats spearhead took a competition-high 97 marks inside 50 last year. Illustrating Geelong's reliance on Hawkins was the fact Bartel (31) was the club's next most-used target inside 50. Mitch Clark's recruitment is bound to ease some of the pressure, but Hawkins remains Geelong's spearhead. Thankfully, when the ball is in in his hands he invariably delivers.
KEY 2014 STATS: When Hawkins is involved in a chain the Cats score 60 per cent of the time – the third highest percentage of any player in the competition.
