AHOY there me hearties, welcome back to Calvin’s Captains for round 10.We have just one more round of the tricky byes to navigate and you havecertainly come to the right place to find yourself an AFL Fantasycaptain for this week.
So climb aboard my trusty pirate ship and let’s sail through the terrific options I have for you this week.
Take on the Fantasy elite and win
BEAMS ME UP, SCOTTIE
Although Dayne Beams [MID, $584,286] didn’t play against West Coast last year, his recent form and previous history against the Eagles is amazing.
He scored 117, 129 and 117 (in a final) against them in 2012 and is currently averaging 122 points in his last five games.
Despite a tag from the dangerous Scott Selwood, Scott Pendlebury [MID, $566,192] still managed 129 points when he played the Eagles last year, giving him an average of 123 points a game in his last three encounters against the boys from the west.
HOME SWEET HOME
Some players just love playing on their home ground and Dane Swan [MID, $549,858] is a prime example. So far this year, Swan has averaged 113 points at the MCG and when you compare this to his average of 81 points when he plays away from the home of football, it’s clear to see he is more comfortable on home turf.
Swan only scored 79 points last week at Adelaide Oval but goes for his sixth straight score of 100+ points against the Eagles when he meets them this week.
Fresh off his round nine bye, Kane Cornes [MID, $550,611] returns to Adelaide Oval this week to play Hawthorn, a ground where he has averaged 127 points this year.
He only scored 93 points against the Hawks in 2013, but has been in great form averaging 110 points from his last three games.
Joel Selwood [MID, $501,264] scored 138 points last week, his best score this season. He has only played at Simonds Stadium twice this year for scores of 125 and 132.
Selwood plays North Melbourne this week and has a great record against the Roos, scoring over 100 points in five of his last six games.
From his last 15 games at Metricon Stadium, Gary Ablett [MID, $620.995] has only failed to score over 100 points once. So far in 2014, Ablett has averaged 135 points on his home ground and plays the Western Bulldogs there this week.
He scored 135 points against the Western Bulldogs last year and this week he’ll attempt to score his ninth straight 100+ score against the Dogs.
Ablett’s lowest score in his past six games is 119 points.
These stats are simply astonishing. He is the best in the business right now and shouldn’t be overlooked this week.

Trent Cotchin [MID, $516,224] v Greater Western Sydney at Spotless Stadium: Last year against the Giants, Cotchin only scored 52 points before being subbed out. He was comprehensively tagged by Adam Treloar on a day Dustin Martin ran free accumulating 132 points.
Ryan Griffin [MID, $415,186] v Gold Coast at Metricon Stadium: Is Ryan Griffen back? He scored his first ton for 2014 last week (113 points) but only had 80 points when he played against the Suns last year. I’m not convinced he’s back to his 2013 form just yet.
Callan Ward [MID, $506,776] v Richmond at Spotless Stadium: Ward has averaged 126 points in his last three games this year and will most likely be tagged by Daniel Jackson who held him to 89 points last year when these teams last met.
Tom Liberatore [MID, $509,475] v Gold Coast at Metricon Stadium: Although he only scored 78 points against the Suns last year, Liberatore has been is amazing form, averaging 122 points in his last three games this year.
Patrick Dangerfield [FWD/MID, $531,693] v Carlton at the MCG: After scoring 135 points last week, Dangerfield heads into round 10 seeking his fifth straight score over 100 points in as many games. He scored 71 and 142 in his last two meetings with the Blues and should be great again this week.
Brent Harvey [FWD/MID, $503,299] v Geelong at Simonds Stadium: Last week, Harvey scored his highest Fantasy score (144 points) since 2001. He has averaged 110 points in his last three games against Geelong and should be good again this week.
Matthew Boyd [MID, $539,004] v Gold Coast at Metricon Stadium: Matthew Boyd plays one of his favourite teams to score Fantasy points on this week and should be considered. He’s averaged 121 points against the Suns since they joined the AFL, and should although he’s a veteran of the League, he should be on your radar.
Marc Murphy [MID, $536,763] v Adelaide at the MCG: After scoring three scores of 120+ points in his last four games this year, Marc Murphy has his hand raised high heading into round ten. He scored 115 points against the Crows last year and is a chance to better that in the Sunday twilight.
