We look at who's hot and who's not heading into this weekend's games
Geelong v Essendon
HOT: Jimmy Bartel has been Geelong's highest-scoring player against the Bombers, averaging 16.4 points from four matches, while Brendon Goddard (15.5 points in six matches) has the best record against Geelong of any Essendon player.
COLD: Cats veteran James Kelly has played behind the ball this season and has dropped from 42nd on the player ratings table at the start of the year to 86th – the biggest drop at the club. Bomber Brent Stanton started the year in 84th position but now sits in 114th.
Hawthorn v Gold Coast
HOT: Hawks big man Jarryd Roughead is the No. 1 key forward in the competition and has a better record against Gold Coast than any other team. Suns little man Jaeger O'Meara has risen 225 places since the start of the year.
COLD: Hawthorn's Shaun Burgoyne peaked at 22nd on the player ratings table but has slipped back to 35th in the past four weeks. Greg Broughton is the only Gold Coast player to play seven games or more this season who has slipped down the table.
St Kilda v Richmond
HOT: Tigers midfielder Dan Jackson was the top-scoring player last time the two teams met with 24.2 points. Saints youngster Luke Dunstan has been the third-highest scoring first-year player this season.
COLD: Richmond skipper Trent Cotchin peaked at 15th on the ratings table in late 2012 but has since slipped to 65th. St Kilda veteran Leigh Montagna has fallen to 40th this season.
Fremantle v West Coast Eagles
HOT: Freo ruckman Aaron Sandilands was the top-scoring player in the round seven derby. He is the highest-scoring ruckman this season. West Coast forward Mark LeCras has been the Eagles' best performer in the past six derbies.
COLD: Eagles big man Nic Naitanui started the season in 15th position on the ratings table but has dropped to 26th. Dockers forward Chris Mayne has dropped 40 places since the start of the season.
Brisbane Lions v North Melbourne
HOT: Lions midfielder Tom Rockliff ranks 15th in the competition for average points scored this season. Roos ruckman Todd Goldstein has risen to a career-high 31st position overall.
COLD: North veteran Drew Petrie sits in 76th position on the ratings table after climbing to 34th at the end of last season. Lions speedster Dayne Zorko has fallen from 23rd to 63rd in the past year.
HOT: Swans star Lance Franklin has kicked 21 goals in his past five games. Only Gary Ablett and Scott Pendlebury have averaged better player ratings scores in that time. Giants co-captain Callan Ward ranks 17th for points scored this season.
COLD: Swans wingman Lewis Jetta ranks 133rd for points scored in 2014. Giants youngster Josh Kelly had a high-scoring first two games but has had limited impact since the bye.
Western Bulldogs v Melbourne
HOT: Dogs midfielder Tom Liberatore has averaged 22.5 points in his last three games against the Demons. Melbourne forward Jack Watts has averaged 15.1 points against the Bulldogs – his highest average against any opponent.
COLD: Bulldogs forward Stewart Crameri has dropped from 163rd on the ratings table to 191st in the past three weeks. Dees defender Colin Garland has averaged just 6.7 points from five games against the Bulldogs – his worst return against any side.
Adelaide v Port Adelaide
HOT: Adelaide midfielder Richard Douglas has reached a career-high position of 22nd on the ratings table. Power forward Jay Schulz jumped 23 places to 60th overall after his eight-goal effort against the Bulldogs last weekend.
COLD: Recalled Crows forward Jason Porplyzia has fallen from 228th to 336th in the past 12 months. Port star Chad Wingard sits in 24th position and has a chance to be the youngest ever player in the top-20.
Collingwood v Carlton
HOT: Pies forward Jamie Elliott (Collingwood) has eight goals and nine score-assists from his last three games against the Blues. Blues midfielder Bryce Gibbs has climbed from 86th to 55th on the ratings table this season.
COLD: Collingwood veteran Dane Swan has dropped out of the top-20 for the first time since the player ratings were introduced. Carlton's Andrew Walker ranks outside the top-200 for points scored this season.
