Malceski confirmed on Monday that he would be leaving his premiership teammates to take up a lucrative three-year offer with Gold Coast next season.
Longmire told NAB AFL Trade Radio on Tuesday he did not begrudge Malceski's decision, as the offer was too good to refuse.
"He was pretty emotional as you could imagine, leaving the club, but it was a fantastic offer for him so he's made the decision to look after his family," Longmire said.
The Swans coach confirmed Rhyce Shaw would continue to play a key role at half-back next season as the Swans continue to groom Gary Rohan as a long-term replacement for Malceski.
"Whether it's a Rhyce Shaw or a Gary Rohan ... we (know) full well that we had to plan for players that are getting towards the end of their careers anyway," Longmire said.
"So we're really excited about (what Rohan) can deliver. Jeremy Laidler is another player that can play in that position that wasn't playing at the end of the year and Jarrad McVeigh is an All Australian half-back and I'm sure there's many others we can put through there."
Longmire said he was miffed at the constant speculation surrounding the futures of young Swans Sam Reid and Tom Mitchell.
"We're really happy with what our list looks like at the moment and we're happy with our younger players on our list and we're not actively involved in anything at the moment," Longmire said.
Longmire did confirm that the club was trying to help Tim Membrey get to his desired location in St Kilda to further his football career.
The coach also confirmed he and the playing group had reviewed the demoralising Grand Final loss in full before the players went on their break.
"We just believe that rather than sitting there and waiting over the whole 10-week block of players going away and then coming back and not addressing it, or addressing it at the start of pre-season, we really needed to address it there and then," Longmire said.
"And we did and we looked at it and discussed it and I think that was the way to do it."
