MELBOURNE has delisted Sam Blease and James Strauss bringing the total number of list changes to seven as the Demons prepare for the upcoming NAB AFL draft.

Blease played 33 matches over six seasons at the Demons and was twice nominated for the NAB AFL Rising Star award.

But the 23-year-old, who was recruited with pick No.17 in the 2008 draft, managed just two games this season.

Strauss, who was taken just two selections later in the same draft, managed 24 games and failed to play a single match this year.

Melbourne had seven top 20 draft picks across 2008 and 2009 and only three - Jack Watts, Jack Trengove and Luke Tapscott - remain at the club.

The Demons have already delisted Daniel Nicholson and Mitch Clisby, while Shannon Byrnes retired, Mitch Clark was traded to Geelong and James Frawley joined Hawthorn as a free agent.

The Demons acquired Heritier Lumumba, Jeff Garlett and Sam Frost during the NAB AFL trade period.

They have picks 2, 3 and 40 to use in the draft, with pick 42 set for father-son recruit Billy Stretch.

Rookie midfielder James Harmes has been given a one-year contract extension to remain on the rookie list in 2015.
