The Gold Coast SUNS are on the journey to become the most exciting sporting organisation in Australia.  Strong values and driving a culture of success both on and off the field is central to achieving this goal.

Fundamental to developing a strong and sustainable business is the role the Club and its programs play in the local community.  The Club have worked hard to deliver over 15,000 hours of community service within the first three years of the AFL and are eager to continue making a significant impact on the local community in years to come.

The role of the Community Programs Officer is to work closely with the Community Programs Manager and its Community stakeholders to deliver the efficient and professional daily operations of the Community Department and coordinate key events and programs from the Community Strategy in particular, the Club’s school based program - the SHINE Schools Program.

The role is pivotal within the Club to ensure all player appearances are booked, coordinated and delivered in a professional manner for the Club.

The Community Programs Officer will play a crucial role in ensuring the KPI’s of the department are met and exceeded both within the Club and within the Community. The role will also require the successful applicant to have the capacity to work outside normal office hours from time to time due to the fact that many Community activities and player appearances will occur during this time period.

The ideal candidate will have:
  • a strong personal brand which personifies the GC SUNS values of Bold, Fresh, Relentless, Dependable and Community;
  • tertiary qualifications in a related discipline (desirable);
  • a minimum of 2 years experience organising community events/activities;
  • a passion towards helping the community;
  • an understanding of working in a sporting environment;
  • experience organising athletes or VIPS for appearances or events (desirable);
  • a demonstrated ability to engage and connect with people from various backgrounds;
  • excellent attention to detail; and
  • outstanding organisational skills with the ability to juggle multiple priorities at once.
