FREMANTLE skipper Matthew Pavlich overcame a knee to the head to put in a strong performance on Tuesday in the Dockers' intraclub hit-out.

Pavlich was on all fours after copping an accidental knee from defender Luke McPharlin in the opening quarter.

The 291-game veteran shook off the hit to play a starring role in the second quarter, before finishing the hit-out with 2.2 to his name.

This year's biggest free agent David Mundy once again proved his valuewith a very polished display.

And ruckman Aaron Sandilands, Michael Johnson, Nat Fyfe, Max Duffy and Michael Walters also starred during the match, which featured 16-minute quarters.

Fremantle had 16 of the 22 from the Grand Final team play in the17-a-side practice match, with Nick Suban, TendaiMzungu, Ryan Crowley, Chris Mayne, Cameron Sutcliffe, and Zac Clarke allabsent.

Anthony Morabito, Kepler Bradley and Jon Griffin were also unavailableas they recover from their respective knee injuries, while GarrickIbbotson is still working his way back from an Achilles tendon injury.

Former Bomber Scott Gumbleton was quiet up forward, but showed his versatility by competing in the ruck at times.

Fellow recruit Colin Sylvia popped up in patches but will have to prove his worth during the NAB Challenge if he is to earn a berth for the opening round of the season.

But assistant coach Mark Stone was not unhappy with the performance of the two new recruits.

"They were good," Stone said.

"Colin had a couple of small set-backs during the pre-season so he's into his second full week of training essentially. So we managed him a little bit with his positioning and where he played but we were really pleased with him.

"Scotty as well. His team was the more dominant team and the ball as coming down there a lot so he got some opportunities, but yeah, he was really good.

"He's probably still finding his way with some of his teammates so it was probably a good hit-out for both of them."
