THE SYDNEY Swans havehanded Tom Derickx a lifeline, signing the former Richmond ruckman as adelisted free agent.
Derickx was cut by theTigers on October 30 after three seasons on the senior list, playing just twosenior games.
Recruited as a mature-ageplayer with pick No.63 in the 2010 NAB AFL Draft, the 26-year-old joins theSwans as a replacement for ruckman Shane Mumford, who left for Greater WesternSydney.
The West Australian wassqueezed out at Richmond after versatile big man Shaun Hampson joined the clubfrom Carlton as back-up for ruckman Ivan Maric.
Derickx played 17 gamesfor VFL club Coburg in 2013 and had 60 hit-outs in a standout performance inround 19.
Otherwise, his year didn'treach any great heights, often sharing the ruck duties with Orren Stephenson.
