Steven was the clear winner after a standout season, polling 152 votes to finish well ahead of Saints' veterans Nick Riewoldt (115) and Leigh Montagna (113).
In a season which has earned him an All-Australian nomination, the 23-year-old averaged 26.9 disposals and was in the league’s top 10 in clearances, handballs and disposals.
Steven, who has played 73 games since arriving at the club in 2007, collected more than 30 possessions in seven games this season, including a career-best 47 disposals against Fremantle in Round 23.
It wasn't Steven's only recognition for the night, with retiring champion Stephen Milne handing down the honour of leading the singing of the Saints theme song post victory.
