ESSENDON premiership ruckman Steven Alessio has returned to the club as a member of the Bombers' revamped football operations department.
Alessio, who played in the Bombers' 2000 flag, has been appointed football operations manager and will work alongside new general manager of football operations, Danny Corcoran.
Corcoran replaced former football boss Paul Hamilton in the position last season after Hamilton left the club following five years in the role.
"After an extensive interview process, that included a number of high quality candidates, it became clear Steven was the perfect fit for the role," Corcoran said.
"We believe Steven's previous role with the AFL Players' Association gives him great insight into the industry."
Alessio played 184 games for the Bombers between 1992-2003.
"I look forward to playing my part in ensuring and maintaining Essendon as one of the AFL's most successful clubs," he said.
