Preview: Dockers v Demons
The Dockers' miserly defence and the Demons' poor record in the west spells trouble for Melbourne
SUMMARY
Melbourne travels west having not won at Patersons Stadium since 2004, and that is unlikely to change this week despite the Dockers' heavy injury toll. Had Fremantle kicked straight against Essendon and the Sydney Swans, they could easily be 7-1 and sitting alongside Hawthorn and Geelong atop the AFL ladder. The Dockers have the chance to experiment up forward this week against the second-worst defence in the competition. Melbourne showed more competitiveness against the Tigers last Sunday but in reality, it could have been blown away again had Richmond kicked a little straighter in front of goal. The reigning premiers only managed 15 scoring shots against Fremantle last Saturday, just as Melbourne did against Fremantle in round 23 last season. None of that bodes well for the visitors.
