GOLD Coast will be without Kade Kolodjashnij for Friday night's NAB Challenge match against Adelaide, with the rebounding defender forced to withdraw with a calf niggle.
Kolodjashnij – who re-signed with the Suns until the end of 2018 earlier in the week – pulled up tight after Thursday's final session and the club decided to take no risks.
The 20-year-old will be fine to play the season opener against Essendon in two weeks.
Ruckman Dan Currie and wingman Matt Shaw were the other omissions for the clash at Metricon Stadium.
Adelaide has left out Brad Crouch and Rory Atkins for disciplinary reasons, while Reilly O'Brien was also omitted from the Crows' 24-man squad.

Carlton has withdrawn first-round draft pick Charlie Curnow from its team to face the Sydney Swans on Friday night at Etihad Stadium in the NAB Challenge.
The young key forward, who was considered a likely starter in round one, has also been left out of the Northern Blues' VFL team to face Box Hill on Saturday at this stage.
The Blues withdrew midfielder Jason Tutt and Irishman Ciaran Byrne for the clash at Etihad Stadium.
The Swans, meanwhile, cut academy product Jack Hiscox, young midfielder Daniel Robinson and half-forward Brandon Jack.
