The Swans became known last year for what has been dubbed "slingshot footy" – absorbing opposition attacks and countering with rapid-fire handball and run from defence, before a long kick forward. This style didn't necessarily make the premiers a boon for AFL Fantasy points; they ranked fourth in average disposals a game, but just 11th in kicks, which are a far more valuable source of points than handballs. Veterans Adam Goodes and Ryan O'Keefe have long been stars of the Fantasy game, but a new wave of big point-scorers has emerged, led by Josh Kennedy, Kieren Jack and the rising Daniel Hannebery. Keep an eye, too, on youngsters Jed Lamb and Tom Mitchell, as they seek to break into John Longmire's strong line-up. Both top junior footballers, they're a potential source of value if given an opportunity.

2013 AFL Fantasy Dream Team price: $523,900
2013 AFL Fantasy position: Mid
Mr Fantasy says: The Swans' best Dream Team player and the only to average more than 100 in 2012. Wins the ball consistently and worth the hefty price tag.

Kieren Jack
2012 average score:
98
2013 price: $505,800
2013 position: Mid
Mr Fantasy says: Often gets under the guard of rivals. Averaged close to 100 in 2012 and is approaching his prime.

Ryan O'Keefe
2012 average score:
97
2013 price: $499,300
2013 position: Mid
Mr Fantasy says: Was a very popular choice as either a forward or midfielder last season, but can only be chosen in the middle this year. Class act.

Jarrad McVeigh
2012 average score:
91
2013 price: $469,500
2013 position: Mid
Mr Fantasy says: Finished 2012 in super fashion, scoring six 100-plus scores in the last 10 rounds. Worth considering.

Daniel Hannebery
2012 average score:
82
2013 price: $421,800
2013 position: Mid
Mr Fantasy says: Failed to reach triple figures from round 16 last season and others seem better midfield options.

Lewis Jetta
2012 average score:
76
2013 price: $392,000
2013 position: Fwd/Mid
Mr Fantasy says: Certainly had a solid 2012 but still capable of some low scores. I would look elsewhere.

Jude Bolton
2012 average score:
88
2013 price: $451,500
2013 position: Fwd/Mid
Mr Fantasy says: The aging star was a solid Dream Team player last season, averaging almost 90. Nearing the end so I'd look to others.

Ben McGlynn
2012 average score:
73
2013 price: $374,100
2013 position: Fwd
Mr Fantasy says: Averaged in the low 70s last season but still looks a viable forward selection in 2013.

Craig Bird
2012 average score:
69
2013 price: $354,300
2013 position: Fwd/Mid
Mr Fantasy says: Managed just two scores of more than 100 last year. That's not enough to come into Dream Team calculations.

Heath Grundy
2012 average score:
64
2013 price: $328,800
2013 position: Def
Mr Fantasy says: Very solid defender but has never been a huge Dream Team scorer. I'd pass.
