The Brownlow medallist had his first hit out since minor knee surgery in December on Saturday, playing for the Brisbane Lions reserves at Coorparoo.
Black racked up 26 disposals in the NEAFL match against Broadbeach in hot conditions and showed his usual class in congestion.
Versatile big man Brent Staker also made his comeback from successive knee injuries, successfully completing his first game since August, 2011.
Now 34, Black he was "on the fence" as to whether he should be considered for selection for the Lions' round five match against Melbourne next Sunday.
"I'm not sure what Vossy's thinking. I'd assume it's another game (in reserves) but we'll see what happens through the week," Black said.
"I'm probably on the fence a bit, I'm not sure. No doubt another run would certainly prove beneficial."
Black said he was surprised how well his knee had pulled up and was virtually pain free the entire match.
Despite 314 senior matches, he admitted to being nervous running out for the reserves.
"I was like a young kid before I went out," he said.
"It's been the longest break between games I've had my whole career. I know how the young kids feel when they play their first game.
"There's no substitute for time in the middle playing. It'll take me a few weeks to get my feel back and my legs back.
"It's great to get a run in the legs and hopefully in three or four weeks time I can find my match fitness and start to play some good footy."
Staker had 15 touches and kicked a goal but is likely to need a few more weeks in the twos.
