INAUGURAL Brisbane Lions captain Emma Zielke has been re-elected to lead last year's beaten Grand Finalists in their 2018 NAB AFL Women's campaign.
Zielke said she was "really proud" to be named skipper heading into the second year of the competition, while coach Craig Starcevich hailed her leadership qualities.
"Emma is respected by her teammates and coaching staff alike. She is a great role model for our group, both on and off the field," Starcevich said.
"Emma often does things on the field that you would expect from an inspirational captain.
"Her temperament is nice and even most of the time. She also has a good sense of when the team needs extra motivation."
Zielke heads a six-woman leadership team, with Leah Kaslar appointed vice-captain.
Last year's leading possession-winner Emily Bates and star tall Sabrina Frederick-Traub – plus newcomers Sharni Webb and Kate Lutkins – round out the group.
The Lions travel to Sydney for a practice match against the Giants this Saturday, before a round one Grand Final rematch against Adelaide on February 3.
