BRADLEY Hill says his decision to re-sign with Hawthorn to the end of 2015 was a simple one.
"The club just feels like home to me," Hill told AFL.com.au on Tuesday.
"I was a little homesick when I first got here, but once I got to know the boys a bit better that went away pretty quickly.
"Someone like Cyril (Rioli) went out of his way to make me feel welcome in the early days, which was really good.
"So it's great to know I'll be here for the next two years now. The team is going well and hopefully I can be part of some on-field success."
Hill was not due to come out of contract until the end of next season, having signed a three-year deal when he joined the Hawks at the 2011 national draft via pick No. 33.
But the 20-year-old West Australian recently signed a one-year contract extension on the back of an encouraging second season at the Hawks.
After playing five AFL games in his debut season last year, Hill has played all but one game in 2013 and given the Hawks an injection of pace and class on the wing.
Hill made his finals debut last Friday night against the Sydney Swans, winning 17 possessions and kicking a goal.
Having watched on as the Hawks made it through to last year's Grand Final, Hill is excited to have the chance to be part of the Hawks' flag tilt this year.
Like nearly every player, he is reluctant to look beyond his team's next clash, a preliminary final next Friday night against the winner of the Geelong-Port Adelaide second semi-final.
But if the Hawks win that clash and Fremantle wins its preliminary final against the Swans or the Blues, Hill could play against his elder brother and Dockers star Stephen in the Grand Final.
When pressed to look ahead, Hill said he and Stephen had spoken light-heartedly about the possibility of a Hawthorn-Fremantle Grand Final.
But if that match-up eventuates, Hill says his mother will find Grand Final day tougher than anyone.
"I suppose mum would at least know that one of her boys is going to win a premiership," Hill said.
"Obviously, she'd be in a bit of a tough position knowing one of us is going to lose and be pretty upset – that would be pretty hard on her.
"But Stephen and I know full well our teams have got extremely tough games to get through first before we can even think of playing in the Grand Final.
"It's obviously a very exciting time but if you take your eye off the ball for a second, your season will be over."
Hill received the round six Rising Star nomination after his 17-possession, two-goal performance in the Hawks' 11-point win over Adelaide.
He has averaged 16 possessions and nearly three inside 50s a game in 2013.
