Coach Ross Lyon told 6PR's Sports Today on Monday evening the Dockers would take the penalty and not contest at the tribunal on Tuesday.
"Matthew and I always have a chat on a Monday and obviously he's frustrated and disappointed," Lyon said.
"But from my end and Matthew's end, it's a split-second decision you've got to make and it went the wrong way and now he's frustrated for a couple of weeks.
"We just need to keep delivering until he gets back because we know we're a better team with him in and that's been proven over a long period of time."
Pavlich, who only recently returned to the Dockers' line-up after a long stint out due to a foot injury, was cited for the front-on bump he laid on Brown during the third quarter of Sunday's Western Derby.
The panel graded the incident as reckless conduct, medium impact and high contact.
When Pavlich's 93.75 carryover points were taken into account, the total reached 493.75, which is just shy of a five-week suspension.
By lodging an early guilty plea, the 25 per cent discount means he misses the Dockers' clashes with Richmond, Adelaide and Carlton.
Pavlich can play again in round 20 against Greater Western Sydney at Patersons Stadium.
