The Melbourne chief made a quick escape as news crews sought comment after Wednesday's CEOs conference at Etihad Stadium.
"Yeah, that went in Don McLardy's statement yesterday," Schwab said as he waited for the elevator.
"I'm not going to make any more comment in relation to it."
AFL boss Andrew Demetriou also confirmed the club's response had been received, despite earlier telling a radio station it had not.
"This morning I was unaware that they had put it in [and] I was advised late today that we received their submission at 7.30pm and as I understand it now, Gillon McLachlan and Brett Clothier will read that submission," Demetriou said.
"They didn't read it today because obviously we were in this conference and I will await the outcome from that."
Demetriou offered no timeline for a conclusion to the tanking affair.
"I couldn't give you a timeline on it because I will leave it up to Gillon and Brett," he said.
McLardy's letter to members on Tuesday night included just two sentences on the status of the tanking investigation.
"Our club has today – in accordance with the agreed timeframe - provided its response to the AFL investigation," McLardy said.
"I intend keeping all our members and supporters regularly updated regarding this matter."
The Demons, Schwab, former football manager Chris Connolly and former coach Dean Bailey had until close of business Tuesday to respond to an 800-page report compiled by AFL investigators.
The AFL will now consider those responses before deciding whether to lay formal charges and in turn instigate the process for a potential commission hearing.
