The sentence was backdated to April 27 and will be suspended after three months.
The 24-year-old pleaded guilty in the Alice Springs Magistrates Court on Thursday to one count of aggravated assault of a woman in the early hours of March 28.
Two other assault charges and a count of causing serious harm were withdrawn.
The court was told the incident began after an argument took place between Jurrah's current partner and his previous partner.
The victim was not involved in the argument, but had smashed the rear window of a car.
Jurrah pushed her from behind and hit her twice in the head, while his co-accused Mathius Walker, 32, hit and kicked her.
Walker was sentenced to seven months' jail.
Jurrah made his AFL debut in 2009 and played 36 games for Melbourne.
The club delisted him at the end of last season, but he has since signed on to play for the Alice Springs South Kangaroos Football Club.
