JEREMY Laidler is seeking a new club after battling to get a senior game under Blues coach Mick Malthouse.

 

Laidler played just one game for the Blues under Malthouse, appearing in round two against Collingwood. He did not make it back into the senior team.

 

He had an outstanding 2011 and was a good performer in two finals before injuring his knee in round four the next season. He missed the rest of the year.

 

Laidler arrived at Geelong as a rookie and played two matches between 2009-10. He was then traded to the Blues at the end of 2010 and played 24 games for Carlton.

 

The club's football operations manager Andrew McKay said Laidler had made it clear what he wanted to do when he met with the club post-season.

 

"In Jeremy’s meeting he expressed that he would like to look for an opportunity at another club and we respect and support his decision to do so," McKay said.

Carlton also announced eight list changes on Tuesday.

 

It delisted Luke Mitchell, Patrick McCarthy, Marcus Davies and Aaron Joseph, while rookies Rhys O’Keeffe, Fraser Dale and Andrew Collins will also depart.

 

Joseph played 73 games and was the club's best first year player in 2009. The 24-year-old stopper played four senior games in 2013.

 

Davies played 17 games in four years while Mitchell and McCarthy played one match each.

 

It is the first step in what is expected to be a significant overhaul of Carlton's list in the off-season. The Blues finished ninth but played finals after Essendon was stripped of its ability to play in the finals. The Blues defeated Richmond before crashing out of the finals against the Sydney Swans.

 

Malthouse said the Blues needed run post-game and did not hide the fact they were interested in Collingwood premiership player Dale Thomas.
