WEST Coast defender Mitch Brown still can't commit to a future at the Eagles despite becoming a fixture in defence this year.
The 24-year-old requested a trade to St Kilda at the end of the 2012 season after playing just eight senior matches for the year, but West Coast said Brown was a required player.
Brown said he was a lot happier this season but still could not commit to any decision on his future.
"I'm enjoying my football a lot this year," Brown said at a press conference on Monday.
"I've always enjoyed my football but this year playing 13 games … I've enjoyed it a lot and it's definitely put me in good stead for whatever I do at the end of the year."
Brown has played just 64 matches in eight seasons at West Coast after he was a first-round draft choice in 2006.
Originally from Ballarat, Brown said the lure of playing in Melbourne alongside his twin brother Nathan, a premiership player at Collingwood, is very strong but the chances were slim.
"I'd love to play with my brother. It has always been a dream," Brown said.
"But realistically it's probably not going to happen.
"For now, for me it's playing AFL football and I love it here and I'm playing here so I'm happy."
Brown felt it would be a greater challenge to remain at West Coast and play in a team contending for finals than to move to St Kilda and take part in a rebuild.
With Darren Glass undecided about whether he would play on next year Brown believes he could form a great trio in defence with close friends Eric Mackenzie and Will Schofield.
"Myself, Eric and Will Schofield were all drafted in the same year and we're all pretty close, and we still remain pretty close," Brown said.
"Playing there together is fantastic and I think we play well together."
Brown said he was extremely grateful for the support his teammates had given him after he almost left the club in the off season.
"With me asking for a trade last year they could've easily shut up shop with me but they've supported me, and that's really helped me play my best football this year," he said.
