JORDAN Lewis is off the free agency market after re-signing with Hawthorn for two more years.
The 26-year-old will now remain in the brown and gold until the end of 2015.
"I have basically committed for another three years. I was contracted for this year, but we redid this year and the club presented an option of another two, and in my position, it was a no-brainer," Lewis told News Limited.
"We have won one premiership, and once you have won one with a side you have been given the opportunity to play for, you want to hang around. Hopefully, there's more success here in the future.
"There would be nothing worse than leaving this club and seeing all your mates up on the dais receiving their medals. You would definitely be kicking yourself if that happened."
Lewis and Lance Franklin were two of the Hawks' free agents this year with both in the restricted category.
Franklin will wait until the end of the season to negotiate his new deal, a move Lewis defended.
He also said he believed his spearhead teammate would remain a Hawk.
"It is hard to hypothetically predict what will happen, but I know he's happy here and he's playing some good football. It will take place at the end of the year, which is what he wants," he said.
"He is a contracted player, so he has said, and we have said, we don't know what the fuss is about. When the time comes, I am sure he will make the right decision.
"The players in the past have been really restricted and the club has held all the cards, which in any situation is tough to be in. But now players have a say (under free agency) and have some ownership on where their future lies, and that's only good for the game."
