STEWART Crameri met with Essendon on Monday as he weighs up where he will play next year.

The meeting is understood have gone positively, with the half-forward expected to decide by the end of this week if he will remain with the Bombers.

The Western Bulldogs have offered Crameri a four-year deal worth up to $1.8 million, while Essendon has put forward a three-year contract.

The 25-year-old has a close relationship with Bulldogs coach Brendan McCartney, who was his forward line coach at Essendon in 2011.
Crameri will undergo minor ankle surgery on Tuesday, having carried the complaint through the second half of the season.

Essendon is keen to retain Crameri, who has led the club's goalkicking the last three seasons.

"Stew Crameri has indicated all the way through that he would prefer to stay with us and we have offered him a three-year deal," list manager Adrian Dodoro said recently.

"We have increased our offer but he does have a monster offer put in front of him from a rival club.

"We need to respect that and he needs to make a decision."

Essendon has a number of players who remain out of contract, including Jason Winderlich, Kyle Hardingham, Scott Gumbleton, Tayte Pears and Travis Colyer.
