Dane Swan and Scott Pendlebury resume for the Magpies after missing last week's NAB Cup loss to the Brisbane Lions and have been joined in the side by Heath Shaw, Harry O'Brien and Travis Cloke.
Still missing for Collingwood are Luke Ball, Dale Thomas, Ben Reid, Alex Fasolo, Alan Toovey, Andrew Krakouer and Alan Didak.
Magpies missing out
The Pies remain hopeful key defender Reid might play a VFL practice match next week, but the other players are considered line-ball in any event for the Easter Sunday season opener against North Melbourne.
Similarly, by leaving out Steve Johnson and James Kelly, who are both suspended for round one, the Cats have clearly demonstrated their intention to tune up for their Easter Monday blockbuster against Hawthorn.
James Podsiadly, Jimmy Bartel, Mitch Duncan, Harry Taylor and Jared Rivers, who all missed Geelong's 12-point win over North Melbourne last weekend, are among the big names recalled.
None of Geelong's first-choice ruckmen have been ruled fit to take on the Magpies, with Trent West still recovering from his knee surgery and Nathan Vardy yet to shrug off his groin problem.
As a result, rookie-listed big men Josh Walker and Mark Blicavs will get another chance to prove they are up to the job of rucking against the Hawks.
It will be the first time a Collingwood senior team has ventured to Geelong for a game since July, 1999.
