GEELONG midfielder Jack Steven will make his club debut on Saturday night against Carlton.

The Cats had originally planned to play the former Saint in a scratch match against the Blues on Saturday, but he will replace Brandan Parfitt in the side.

It is understood Parfitt has hamstring soreness and pulled up sore on Friday morning after completing a modified training session on Wednesday.

Lachie Fogarty comes into the squad as an emergency.

Steven hasn't featured at any level since playing in the Marsh Community Series in March and had been on a reduced training schedule recovering from a stab wound suffered last month.

The 30-year-old managed seven games for the Saints last year after dealing with his mental health and crossed to the Cats on a two-year deal in October.

Carlton has made two changes for the clash at GMHBA Stadium, with Jack Silvagni and Tom Williamson recalled for former Cat Darcy Lang (omitted) and Nic Newman (knee).
