JARRAD McVeigh, the Swans' three-goal hero from Saturday'swin over the Saints, says Sydney has a “burning desire” to make thefinals and go one better than last season.
“We're allfighting for the same thing. The players would love to get back there and trywin another flag. It's definitely a burning desire after coming up short lastyear,” he said on Tuesday.
The Swans, insixth spot, are in the middle of a great run heading intothe last three games of the season.
"If you get top two you get a home final butwe've just got to make the finals first,” McVeigh cautioned.
“It's just good toget into some form heading into the final part of the year. We've just got tocontinue that. We've got three games left and we've got to win every game.
“You can't go downif you don't lose.”
The Swans take onthe eighth-placed Brisbane Lions this Saturday in another crucialgame.
“They're coming off a loss and they'll be at home ... we're all fightingfor a finals spot. So it'll be a tough game," McVeigh said.
“We're just takingevery game as it comes. We know we have to win every game to cement a finalsspot. So we'll be going as hard as we can,” said the22-year-old.
The midfielder'srole last Saturday night against St Kilda was iced by a three-goal star turnthat helped the Swans triumph in a tight game of footy.
ButMcVeigh is not one to seek the plaudits.
“It's not aboutgoals in our team. It's about everyone playing their role. Hally [Barry Hall]sets up goals too,” he said of the big spearhead, who was kept on a tightleash by Saints marker Max Hudghton.
“I had a few jobsto do on the night, but I was lucky enough to get a fewgoals.
“Ikicked a few last year so it was a bit of relief to score a few. But that's notwhat it's all about, I've got to beat my man. If I score a few, it's abonus.”
