BRISBANE has no fears over a lingering calf injury that has plagued captain Dayne Zorko this season, with the Lions skipper expected to make a speedy recovery to face Geelong on Thursday night.

Zorko has missed two of his side's last three matches, having battled Achilles soreness and a related calf issue that the club initially believed could keep the important midfielder out for up to a month.

However, with Zorko cleared to play the Cats in a crucial encounter at the SCG tomorrow night, coach Chris Fagan says the club doesn't hold any fears over the problem arising again amid what could be a congested fixture block.

"He is (right to go)," Fagan said.

"He's had a good training block over the last week, so he'll be selected in the team.

"It all depends on how he pulls up from games. The problem that he had is fixed. It was a plantaris problem and that fully ruptured, so the problem is gone.

"Like all of our players, we'll monitor his progress and make sure that every week that we play – if it becomes compressed – that we put out 22 players that are the best and ready to go."

Zorko is expected to replace fellow hardened midfielder Cam Ellis-Yolmen in Brisbane's side on Thursday night, with the former Adelaide onballer also suffering a calf injury in the early stages of the side's victory over Port Adelaide on Saturday night.

Ellis-Yolmen will miss at least the next two matches, having not been selected in the Lions squad that will travel to New South Wales for the next fortnight, with experienced defender Marcus Adams also suffering a further injury setback this week.

Adams has endured a history of foot problems, playing just 11 games since the start of 2019, with Brisbane revealing on Tuesday that he will now be sidelined for an additional two months after scans determined a stress fracture.

"Obviously it's a bit of a worry," Fagan said.

"I thought we'd have Marcus playing by now, but these things happen. He's in good hands, so he'll play when he's ready."
