MAV WELLER will be hoping it's a case of third time lucky for his AFL career after Richmond confirmed it will throw him a lifeline in the new pre-season supplemental selection period next month.
The 26-year-old will join his third AFL club after stints with Gold Coast (32 games) and St Kilda (89) when the recruitment period opens on December 1.

Weller is one of five players to recently withdraw their nominations for this week's NAB AFL Draft so he can take advantage of the new rule.
He can't train with the Tigers until December 1, which means he'll be available to start pre-season with the rest of the five year-plus players when they come back on December 3.

After losing depth players Anthony Miles, Corey Ellis and Sam Lloyd during the recent NAB AFL Trade Period, Weller will offer the Tigers experienced midfield support.
"We think Mav will fit into our team and our football program really well," Richmond football manager Neil Balme said.
"We've been really impressed by him, and at only 26 years of age, he has plenty of football ahead of him."
Recently delisted tall Mabior Chol is training with the Tigers and could also be offered another chance on Friday in the rookie draft.
They have already committed to taking premiership forward Jacob Townsend in the same draft.
